Amaravati, January 10 – Buddhist Pilgrims of Kalachakra 2006 at Amaravati witness the biggest ever concert in the exile history. According to the organizers, last night’s Tibetan Music concert was the biggest ever concert, even bigger than those two big concerts at Bylakuppe in South India. “It’s great! The concert was well organized and I wonder how they could draw such a big number of audiences for their show.” said one of the ladies who came for the Kalachakra teaching from Switzerland.
The night began with the speech from Smt. G. Jayalakshmi, Collector of Guntur District. In her speech she expressed her thankfulness to everybody who came to Amaravati for the Kalachakra. She further suggested having a similar Kalachakra or event in the future.
The most invited singers of the show were Dr. L.P. Tawo and Tsering Topden Nelung from Germany and Switzerland respectively. They were once great heroes in the 80’s. As always, Techung of Chaksampa Group highlighted the charm of the night. Apart from these traditional singers Phurbu T. Namgyal, Pemsi and Lo-Tsetan showered with their love songs and Tibetan R&B’s.
“According to organiser, the festival is for three days. But after such a big number of audiences at the first night……..we may go for another one day.” Said Mr. Gonpo, Director of Gonpo Entertainment.
Gonpo Entertainment is the only registered Tibetan Musical Company in Exile and so far, this very company has organized some biggest concerts in India, USA & Canada under the name of Tibetan Music
Festival and this on-going festival at Amaravati is a part of the same festival. Tibetan Music Festival Kalachakra -2006 started on 10th of January and it is a three days festival.
