Tibet Represented at International Festival

Dharamshala January 7 – Tibet was represented among the 22 countries that participate in a literary festival called ‘City Stories Katha Asia International Utsav’. The festival which began in the Indian capital yesterday will last for 6 days. Tenzin Tsundue, a poet,writer and activist for independent Tibet, has been invited to represent Tibet at the festival at India Habitat Centre.

The festival promises to be a multi – level participatory, open space for storytelling, laughter and friendship, dialogue and discussion. The Katha International Utsav is a revival of the first of its kind Asia Relations Conference organized in March 1947 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to celebrate the beginnings of Asia’s emancipation from colonialism and its assertion on world stage.

Cultural events include Sufi music concert, Bharat Natyam dance performance and film screening. A shadow parliament is also take place. Delhi Chief Minister Shelia Dixit attended the festival this afternoon.

National Teachers’ Conference, book releases, exhibitions, public lectures and open debates will take place at the festival.

The festival will witness formal and informal interactions between writers, translators, community activists, academics, artists, school and college students, media and the citizens.

Tenzin Tsundue has brought out Crossing the Border, a book of poetry and Kora to get his message and ideologies across to the people.
