New Delhi, January 3 – It is one event, which witnesses participation of the Tibetan community from all around the world and Buddhists believe that the mere presence during this event, liberates them from suffering and leads them to the path of enlightenment.

Kalachakra, the religious festival of the Tibetan community is beginning from January 5 in Amravathi, Andhra Pradesh and its not just the Tibetans who will be attending this event. Environmentalists are also keen on attending this festival. Alarmed by the rise in smuggling of wildlife contraband, through Tibet and Nepal to neighbouring country China, environmentalists have now come up with a novel idea of spreading awareness through the event. And they are not alone in this project as His Holiness the Dalai Lama has taken a personal interest in preaching his followers to not to harm the wildlife.

“His Holiness was approached by us so that we can use his discourse to spread awareness among the community. Over the past few years, almost every major wildlife seizure in India and Nepal has revealed a Tibetan connection, either direct or indirect,” said Mr Ashok Kumar of Wildlife Trust of India.
