Justice Commissioner Sworn in

Dharamshala December 16 – The new Justice Commissioner Ngawang Phegyal took the oath of office from His Holiness the Dalai Lama today. He succeeds Lobsang Khedup who resigned in June this year.

Modest functions were held at the Supreme Justice Commission and the Kashag Secretariat after the swearing in ceremony.

Phegyal was appointed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama from a list of candidates recommended by a five-member committee of the Chief-Justice Commissioner, Chairperson and Vice-chair of the Assembly and the Kalon Tripa, and approved by the Tibetan parliament.

Phegyal also worked as a former Justice Secretary of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. Before his appointment to the post of Justice Commissioner he served was the General Secretary of the Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie.
