TIPA to Release AaKaMa 2005 on December 10

Dharamshala November 28 – The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts has finished recording of its latest album Aa-Ka -Ma 2005 which is all set for release on December 10 coinciding with the day of conferment of Nobel Peace prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1989.

The band’s leader Ngawang Tenzin told phayul that the album comprises of some melodious numbers performed by 8 different singers of the institute. The institute’s band brings out traditional and modern Tibetan songs every year.

This year’s album, says Ngawang, is dedicated to the year-long celebrations of the 70th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

“We want to thank His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his selfless commitment to the Tibetan cause and his pioneering leadership through our album.”

All Aa Ka Ma albums have sold well till now. The album will be available from December 10 in stores at a nominal price.

The band borrows its name from the three letters that appeared in a lake in Amdo province where the search party for the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama was looking for possible clues to its search.
