In the past, Gonpo Entertainment has organised two biggest Tibetan music concerts by the name of Tibetan Music festival in south India and now their group is on a US tour.
The first two concerts of Tibetan Music Festival-USA 2005 in California on 5th & 12th of November ended superbly. The second concert at Oakland was not in the schedule but due to huge demand from the people of Bay Area, the organisers had to come up with another concert after the first show at University of San Francisco. At both the concerts the halls were packed, leaving no seat for many of the audiences who had to leave back home.
Mr. Tenpa Dorjee, the tour coordinator said that almost 90% of the Tibetans living around Bay Area have shown up for the shows. He continues “I am very happy for whatever we have achieved from these two shows. We are inspired to do many such concerts in the future. We had to face many struggles to come up with these shows. Finally, our team has done it and are very much happy seeing most of the people out here having great time with the shows.”
Mr. Gonpo Gyaltsen, the founder and director of GONPO ENTERTAINMENT in a conversation on phone said, “I didn’t expect this much of crowd for our show at the University of San Francisco. The hall’s capacity was of 600 and it was impossible to let everyone in, since the seats were limited. Fortunately, we managed to organise another concert for the bay area people at Oakland. It’s very encouraging to see people traveling from Portland and Seattle for these evenings. It was amazing and we are excited about our next shows.” This on-going tour, which began on 5th of this month, is first ever international tour for all the three famous singers from India. Many well known artist from the states itself joined the tour.
Tsering Diki, a girl from Bay Area was overwhelmed by the performance of the singers. She said, “It was amazing! Everybody performed very well. We never had this much fun before. The most interesting part was when the crowd stood up and danced with the singers. It was in-fact the best musical evening I have ever come across.”
During the shows, there were delicious momos from RTYC, Bay Area. The kitchen was given to RTYC for raising their funds.
The first two evenings of the tour was a huge success. At the time of this report going online, the group was performing in Utah where the number of Tibetan people is very less compared to other areas. The group will perform in New York, Minnesota, Boston, Madison, Chicago, San Diego and Toronto. Be sure not to miss them while they are in your city and keep on checking www.gonpoentertainment.com for all the updates.
