Dharamshala October 24 – Four Tibetans were fined over ten thousand rupees each by the Nepalese immigration office, reports Voice of Tibet radio service. The Tibetans were arrested by Nepalese police at the border town of Rasowa on 13 October.
The Tibetans are Wangdue M20, Ngawang Yonten M22, Dawa M25 and Tsekyi M23. Tsekyi is from Kham Drayab while the other three are from Shigatse.
The four were charged of illegally entering Nepal and traveling without documents. The Tibetans were taken to Kathmandu on October 19 and fined the penalty on October 20.
If they fail to pay the penalty on time they will be sentenced to more than two years in prison. On payment of the penalty, the accused will be handed over the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
Meanwhile, the Nepalese government has decided to cease the issuance of travel documents for all the refugees in Nepal. And with the winter soon approaching the fate of the Tibetan refugees pouring in from Tibet on large scale at this time of the year remains uncertain.
