Dharamshala October 21 – The eleven member delegation of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies called on Friedrich Ingo, Vice President of the European Parliament on Wednesday in Brussels, Belgium.
Voice of Tibet radio service reported that the members of the Tibetan parliament discussed various issues related to Tibet with the Vice President who assured his support to the Tibet issue. He assured his support to the Tibetan government’s efforts for a negotiated settlement of the Tibet issue.
The Tibetan legislators thanked the Vice President of the European Parliament for his house’s support to the Tibet issue and urged him to mobilize the facilitation of negotiation between the representatives of the exile Tibetan government and the People’s Republic of China.
The Tibetan legislators also met yesterday with the Vice President of the European People’s Party, the largest party in the European Parliament, and held talks with him. The Tibetan legislators also met Thomas Mann, the president of the European Parliament’s Inter-Group on Tibet, an EP support group on Tibet, and its members. The Tibetan legislators held a meeting with the members and discussed various issues related to Tibet. The Inter Group assured its support to the exile government’s mission of bringing China to the table.
Sonam Topgyal, a member of the Tibetan parliamentarian’s delegation, told Voice of Tibet that he is very much pleased with the support to the Tibetan cause shown by the European Parliament. “European Parliament is a very important body and I am happy that it supports our cause genuinely”.
The European Parliament has passed 31 resolutions on Tibet till now. The Tibetan delegation left for South Tyrol later yesterday.
