Dharamshala October 5 – A former President of one of the first countries to openly embrace Tibet and condemning its invasion by China in the United Nations will call on His Holiness the Dalai Lama. According to a report by the Voice of Tibet radio service, former El Salvadorian president Francisco and his wife are on a visit to the exile hilltown headquarters of the Dalai Lama.
Mr. Francisco called on Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche this evening and discussed various issues. A dinner reception will be hosted by the Kashag in honour of the former El Salvadorian president tomorrow. Mr. Francisco also visited the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives where he was briefed about the Tibetan culture and Buddhism by its director Geshe Lhakdor. Mr. Francisco is also scheduled to call on Gyalwang Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorje (spelling as per the official website of the Karma Kagyu institute www.karmakagyu.org).
The former El Salvadorian president will also visit the Tibetan Children’s Village school, Norbulingka institute of Tibetan culture and other educational and religious institutes in Dharamshala.
He will leave Dharamshala on 9 October.
