The Long Look Homeward, the exhibition of Tibetan Museum of Dharamsala, has been exhibited in the Culture Center of the Commune of Auderghem, in the suburb of Brussels. This is the fourth exhibition of the material in Belgium. This will stay for three weeks.
The exhibition is hosted by the municipality in partnership with the Bureau du Tibet and the Culture Center of the municipality.
Inaugurating the exhibition yesterday evening by cutting the ribbon at the entrance, Mr. Didier Gosuin, Mayor of Auderghem spoke passionately. He said that he had hosted the exhibition as an obligation to promote liberty. He stressed that it is necessary for him and his commune to support the Tibetan issue because a weaker people is oppressed by a more powerful country and people.
The Commune of Auderghem has been flying Tibetan flag in the Townhall on 10th March every year to express the solidarity for Tibet. Though the Chinese Embassy is within the commune and despite its repeated officials opposition to this, the Mayor has withstood his position that in a free country people have freedom to express their different opinions freely.
While introducing the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Western Europe, expressed profound gratitude to the Mayor and to his commune for hosting this exhibition. He also noted and thanked them for their solid expression of solidarity for Tibet. He hoped that the exhibition would facilitate even better understanding of Tibet in the region.
The inauguration commenced as Ms. Tenzin Wangmo Dunchu, welcomed the guests and Kusho Kunchok Woeser led the recitation of “Words of the Truth” of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Mr. Tenzin Norbu concluded it by presenting two Tibetans songs.
