Dharamshala 29 August – A group of Tibetan volunteers called Washington DC Tibetan Election Initiative have taken up the task of creating awareness among the Tibetan communites in the USabout the importance of the upcoming elections. The group aims to enable the Tibetans in the US to make the best use of their voting rights and elect a true representative of their thoughts in the Tibetan parliament which accommodates only one member from the region.

The group held a meeting on Saturday to discuss various issues concerning the elections. The apparent lack of interest and enthusiasm among voters, the group says, was the main reason behind the group’s initiative.
