Dharamshala – The results of the much-ballyhooed exams for the top fifth post of Tibetan civil service will be declared on Monday, 22 August, according to the Public Service Commission (PSC) of the Central Tibetan Administration.

The complete result gazette of the Under Secretary’s exams will be posted on TibetNet.

The PSC exams for the 22 vacant seats in the post of Under Secretary came under the scanner when some Tibetan media alleged possible leakage of question papers, following which an independent fact-finding committee was formed.

After interviewing some 95 people in a 16-day intensive probe, the committee reported that there was no concrete evidence to corroborate the alleged leak. The committee, however, pointed out several loopholes in the conduct of exams, which the PSC vowed to amend promptly.

“Action Replay”

Many believe the results of the Under Secretary’s exams will be as disappointing as were the exams conducted recently for three lower level posts, in which only four out of 42 candidates passed.

Sources say only 11 out of 112 candidates who appeared in the Under Secretary’s exams have passed.

It is believed that the recent raise in the bar of passing marks “candidates now must score at least 50% marks in every oral and written exams” has caused such a low pass percentage in the PSC exams.
