HOUSTON, August 16 – On September 21, 2005, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, head of state and spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, will be the keynote presenter at a symposium held in Houston, TX. The event will serve to educate and offer a model of the connection between spiritualism and science. The symposium, “Spiritualism and Science In The Modern World” brings together great minds from the worlds of science and spirituality to discuss their connection.

“I think it is so important to bring the world a platform in which we can educate individuals on the connection between spiritualism and science,” said Dr. Gail Gross, a nationally recognized expert and chairman of the event.

In today’s world, spiritualism has become a way of life in fashion, food and drink, exercise and is a path taken by millions worldwide. Hollywood stars have brought much attention to their chosen directions of Buddhism, Kabbalah and Scientology, but little focus has been given to spiritualism and its connection with science. Spiritualism can be defined as the philosophical doctrine that all reality is spiritual, not material. Science is knowledge gained by the study of the physical world. Spiritualism emphasizes the nature of existence while science validates it. Goldie Hawn often sides with the Dalai Lama on his visits to the United States and will be joining him at Houston’s symposium as the keynote speaker.

The event supports the Tibet Fund, a primary non-profit organization dedicated to helping Tibetans improve their lives and preserve their distinct cultural, religious and national identity. Dr. Gross, author and lecturer on family development and juvenile education, behavior and development issues will serve as event chairmen with Mr. Jenard Gross. Dr. Gross’ work has earned her accolades from distinguished leaders such as the Dalai Lama, who presented her with the Spirit of Freedom award in 1998. The vice- chairpersons, Ms. Gigi Huang of Houston, TX and Mrs. Michelle Robson of Arizona, are noted philanthropists.
