Vadodara June 11 – A seminar titled “Tibet’s Freedom-India’s Security” was organized by Mr. Sandeep P. Jyotikar, the convener of ‘core group for Tibetan cause’, Gujarat. The seminar was held at ‘Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan’ Hall in Gandhinagar and was attended mostly by local Indian invitees comprising of more than 170 delegates from all over Gujarat. Also present were a group of Tibetan students from the local chapter of TYC in Baroda.
The main speaker for the event was Dr. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri from Chandigarh who is the one of the prominent founders of the core group, presented the main speech that touched the main issue of how the absence of a buffer state between India and China has created an environment of an ever-present threat for India’s security from China. He also highlighted on the many political blunders committed during the Nehru era. “The then Indian government betrayed both the people of Tibet and the people of India when it came to the question of international diplomacy with the communist Chinese” he said. Another prominent speaker, Mr. P.G. Jyotikar, national Vice President of the core group gave an informative speech touching all the related topics that are associated with the Tibetan national cause.
Mr. Tenzin Dawa, Assistant coordinator of the ITCO enlightened the listeners on the present stand of the Tibetan Government in Exile. He also briefed the listeners with the hardships that the common Tibetans face in their own country due to the Chinese misrule. Another honorable speaker, Mr. BipinBhai Shah, chief Editor of the local newspaper ‘Sandesh’ highlighted on the problem of unemployment and other social problems present in the Tibetan community especially among the youth. “ The youth of Tibet must first have to stand on their own feet if they are to serve their cause and their country” said Dr. Shah.
The event was a success as the general Indian public not only listened enthusiastically to the speakers but also showed a genuine concern for the Tibetan cause as it directly relates to the national interest of India. Later on, the organizing body distributed books and other informative materials related to the Tibetan issue freely.
