Dharamshala June 30 – The newly formed Tibetan Chamber of Commerce or the TCC will meet annually when the governing body prescribes. This was revealed by the rules and regulations of the TCC. 51 Tibetan entrepreneurs met in Gurgaon, Haryana, from 17 to 18 June to attend a seminar organized by the Department of Finance. TCC has a total membership of 39 members of which 5 are individual members and 34 are corporate members.
Kalon Tripa Pof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Kalon Lobsang Nyandak and Special Envoy Lodi Gyari spoke at the seminar. One of the objectives of the formation of the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce, which will have its registered office in New Delhi, is to promote contacts and cooperation among the Tibetan business communities.
The TCC’s governing body comprises of 11 members. The governing body will be chaired by Dorjee Wangdu Dewatsang with Tsetan Norbu as his deputy. Ms. Jamyang Dolma Gyari, the only woman in the body, will be the general secretary and Sonam Phuntsok will be the treasurer. The other members are Gyanor Tsewang, Sonam Topgyal, Kunsang Tsering, Lobsang Ngodup Lama, Phuntsok Tsering, Dawa Rinchen and Jigmey Tenzin.
The TCC will be registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 as a non-profit organization working for the promotion of business and ideas in the Tibetan communities. The TCC will constitute an international advisory board consisting of prominent individuals who will be referred for guidance on essential issues concerning the policies of the chamber.
The TCC is an independent body and will not have any influence from the exile Tibetan government.
