Tibetans in Tibet were asked by His Holiness to remain optimistic and not lose heart. His Holiness was talking to the Voice of Tibet radio service, which requested an exclusive radio message for the Tibetans in Tibet. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who is in Norway, expressed his optimism over the Tibet issue after the revival of ties with China three years ago.
His Holiness said China is a powerful country having its rich history and that it must live up to the aspirations of the people of the world to attain that respectable status in the world. His Holiness added that the significance of democratic rights, religious freedom, freedom of expression etc is therefore only going to get stronger in China. And this, His Holiness remarked, “is for China’s own good”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that the Tibetan youngsters in Tibet should be taught both modern education and traditional Tibetan education. We in India have set up separate schools for Tibetans so that the traditional Tibetan education could be taught to the Tibetan children. The combination to the two, His Holiness said, will be helpful for not only the concerned individual but also for the society he is living in.
His Holiness also said that such an education would make a more civilised society which in turn will give rise to more harmony and happiness in the society.
His Holiness called on Kjeli Magne Bondevik, the Prime Minister of Norway today. His Holiness will leave for Germany tomorrow.
