Oslo, May 25 – Today the Norwegian Tibet committee and other NGO’s meet with Mrs Hina Jilani, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders at the Human Rights house in Oslo.
The Tibetan issue was raised during this meeting with special attention to the case of Panchen Lama. Ms. Jilani’s said she had brought the Tibetan issue up in several UN meetings eg. at the General Assembly. She also said that it has been difficult to discuss Tibet related issues with Chinese officials because they have a strong tendency to hide away whenever Tibet is on the agenda. Tibet Committee presentet her the latest ICT report “Alternative Report for the Committee on the Rights of the Child” and list on political prisoners.
