During the 12th General Body Meeting of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) a resolution was unanimously passed by the largest ever gathering of TYC representatives, directing the TYC central office to issue factual and timely responses to the White Papers that China publishes. This resolution has attained far greater importance and significance since the Kashag, as a policy, has refrained from issuing responses to Chinese white papers, which rightly so had been the earlier practice.

Since China issued a White Paper on Tibet titled, ‘Regional Ethnic Autonomy in Tibet’, on May 23, 2004, there has been a flurry of White Papers published by China under the titles, ‘Regional Autonomy for Ethnic Minorities in China’ (February 28, 2005), ‘Progress in Human Rights in 2004’ (April 13, 2005) and ‘New Progress in China’s Protection of IPR’ (April 18, 2005).

Today, on this 54th anniversary of the signing of the 17 point agreement under duress, inorder to mark all the lies, mendacity and falsehood that China has committed and still continues to commit against the Tibetans, TYC is releasing a book titled “Tibet: The Gap between Fact and Fabrication – Tibetan response to China’s White Papers”, a research based factual response to the last four White Papers published by China. This 146 page book contains responses to China’s four White Papers as mentioned, in the order of their release under the titles: “Tibet: The Gap between Fact and Fabrication”, “White Paper of Distorted Facts and Figures”, “In Paper, In Practice” and “Defending the Infringement: Taking the Steam out of China’s White Paper on IPR”.

A growing desperation can be distinctly ascertained within the communist camp in China as their attempts at portraying their ‘make believe’ stories of Tibet, be it historic or the present situation inside Tibet and China, have been failing to enchant the world community at large. The popularity and recognizance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been rising as ever and the international support and sympathy for the Tibetan struggle for independence has grown and intensified.

TYC warns China that its continued attempts of misleading the world with the continuous release of White Papers containing serious distortions of the factual situation in Tibet and the history of Tibet will not only lead to the further admonition of China as a modern forward looking nation by the world but will also push China’s own volatile political and human rights situation into deeper turmoil.

In the foreword to the book, the TYC President Mr. Kalsang Phuntsok Godrukpa has asserted his belief that this response to China’s White Papers shall serve a pristine mirror for the world community and especially for those 1.3 billion Chinese suffering under China’s communist rule, to look reality into the eyes and judge for oneself – the truth from the facts. In the foreword, the TYC President expressed his conviction that through this book the Chinese communist leaders will realise the futility of revolving around the hinges of propagandist fabrication and accept the fact that today’s world revolves around the fabric of justice, truth and respect for human ethics.

TYC considers this release of book titled “Tibet: The Gap between Fact and Fabrication – Tibetan response to China’s White Papers”, not just as a political exercise but more as an innate responsibility of being Tibetans – to counter the lies of China with unbiased facts, unclothe the Chinese fabrications with impartial research and prove the reality of the untold sufferings of our brethens inside Tibet, equal to all Tibetans.

And on this sacred day of ‘Saka Dawa’, as if Lord Shakyamuni, the enlightened one Himself wanted it to be, TYC expresses its faith that this book shall help in dispelling the misery of the Tibetans and eliminate the ignorance and corruption of morality that plagues China.
