Women’s Eve Award

Congratulations to Ms. Tseden Dhogonpa for winning the 2005 Calgary Girls’ School Women’s Eve – Human Rights – Award on March 11th at the Glenmore Inn.

The Women’s Eve Award recognizes women who have made unique and significant contributions for the betterment of society.

Tseden Dhogonpa was recognized for her outstanding effort in Tibet. She began work with women in Tibet and to preserve the Tibetan culture. She worked with other women’s organizations in Calgary to promote awareness of the problems in Tibet and gathered their support. Ms. Dhogonpa has initiated numberous projects including the Mosquito Screen Net Project to provide windows and doors to people for preventing the spread of malaria in India, the Orphanage project to provide medical assistance and education for young orphans, as well as other projects with the “For the Love of Children – Alberta Chapter” society.

Currently, Ms. Dhogonpa is a Board of Directors member on the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, the Alberta Immigrant Women Network, and the For the Love of Children Society. She is also the founder and president for the Canada Tibet Women’s Foundation in Calgary.

Other winners included Ms. Lucille Pulliam, Gail Scott and Dr. Rashida Keshavjee.
