New Delhi, March 13 – A photo exhibition held here titled ‘Buddha Home Coming’ pays tribute to Tibetans, his holiness the Dalai Lama and their magnanimous host, the people of India.
The exhibition by photographer Vijay Kranti showcased more than 200 photographs and large blow-ups selected from his 30-year long photographic study of the Tibetan refugee community and the Indian Himalayan Buddhist communities.
“The basic purpose behind organising this show is to pay tribute as a photographer to the Tibetan refugee community, their leader Dalai Lama, their host – the Indian people and the government of India, who have offered them all the hospitality, support and a very friendly environment to do what they wanted, and the Tibetans have made the best use of it. They have revived their Tibetan identity, and that too in a very impressive way. My exhibition is a testimony, how merely and how perfectly Tibetans have done it,” said Vijay Kranti, the photographer of the photo exhibition. This festival is a testimony of the success of Tibetan refugee community in turning India into the largest reservoir of authentic Tibetan culture in the world, including China and Tibet.
Vijay Kranti’s next exhibition, titled ‘Inside The Colony’, is based on the life of people in occupied Tibet.
