Today over a hundred of Tibetans and and some non-tibetan supporters gathered at the Queen’s Park in downtown Toronto at Ten in the morning in chill of the winter of north america to mark the 46th Anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising Day here in Toronto and also that over a hundred plus Tibetans left at 6.15 in the morning from Toronto to Ottawa. They will be joined by Tibetans residing at Montreal, Bellavile and Ottawa to demonstrate outside the chinese embassy.

In Toronto, the progrme started with M.C Tsering Tsomo la, ATPD(M.P) as well as the president of RTWA Toronto introduced the speakers. TCPC (Tibetan Cultural Preservation in Canada lead the public to sing the Tibetan as well as Canadian National Anthem followed by Dhentse Monlam. it is followed by two minutes of silence to remember all the tibetan Martyrs and Mr. Thupten Namdol la, Secretary, CTAO(Canada Tibetan Association of Ontario) read out the statement of His Holiness. Mr. Michael Craig of Amnesty International promised to keep the ongoing support and also thanked everyone who particiapted today inspite of thier daily coping problem with the new environment and the weather. He siad that he is confident that the problem of Tibet will be solved very soon since the Tibetans have amazing and unique leader.

Mr.Sonam Wangchuk la of RTYC spoke on the importance of the occasion and how to keep the flame of hope burning among the youths here in Canada.

Mr.Khedup of Chushi Gangdruk, Canada spoke to the roles and responsibilities of each Tibetan. The program at the Quens Park was concluded with the recitation of Mimang Langlu-LONGSHOK.

Upon completion of the queens park program the public demonstrated through famous downtown area of Toronto covering Queen Street West and turned towards the longest street on the earth called the Yonge Street and headed towards Bloor street both of which covers the biggest shopping and commercial offices in Toronto. The demonstartors headed towards Chinese Consulate in Toronto on Goerge Street which took little over one and half hour of walk. Upon reaching at the Chinese consulate, the demonstrators continued shouting slogans like “Release Panchen Lama Now” “Canada – Save Tibet” Stop the Killing in Tibet” and so on. At 2.50 in the afternoon, Ms.Dekyi Yangchen of TWA read out the statement of His Holiness in English and the public furhter kept on shouting slogans outside the consulate. The consulate was well gaurded with over thirteen police officers on duty plus few of the RCMP officers. (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) At 3.15, Once again the recitation of Tibetan National Anthem, Longshok and Dentse Monlam was done outside the consulate and the word of thanks was read.
