New Kalpakkam – “We spent our Losar with tsunami affected people by building home for them” says Namdak. It is unusual to find such people who sacrifice Losar celebration for a good cause. This happened, after a meeting between Tashi of varanasi and Sam and Samdup of Tibet Foundation UK on 1st Feb. The main aim is to train Tibetan youth to face natural calamity and who to work in a relief camp. This Housing Project is organized by VCSS,varanasi and Tibet Foundation India. And is funded by Tibet Foundation UK.
Voluntary group of seventeen students reached Chennai on 4th Feb. Youngest among them is sixteen and oldest is twenty-three. They started their relief work on 5th. On the first day they cleaned the surroundings of the fishermen’s’ village. Next day eight Indians in building huts trained them. “Later our students are far more better than the local Indians in building huts” says Tashi. So far they have finished twenty huts and they have plan to build fifty. Due to limited time span for the project they starts their work at 5:00am and stop at 11:00pm night. We can see there labor in the pictures.
All these project is mainly an attempt to practice the teachings of Buddha.
