The latest announcement of Tulku Tenzin Delek’s execution sentence being commuted to life imprisonment by the Higher People’s Court of Sichuan Province, is indeed a matter of slight relieve and a fruition of a kind for the Tibetans, Tibetan supporters and world Parliaments who have campaigned tirelessly to save Tulku from the unjust execution.
But TYC conceive this as an attributions of the combined efforts rather than the positive response or transformation on the side of China. This, we believe, is yet another act enacted by China to shove into the eyes of international watchers while in reality Tulku and many other prisoners, continue to reel under consistent mental and physical tortures.
TYC persistently and emphatically demand the immediate and unconditional release of Tulku Tenzin Delek who has been wrongly incriminated as a terrorist. Nothing less than an immediate and unconditional release of Tulku Tenzin Delek would appease the Tibetans and their supporters. The entire civilized world has deemed the sentence on Tulku Tenzin Delek as unjust and tramped up. And to keep him behind bar at the whim of Chinese officials vindicate its despotic regime and the unending gory history. Till date the concerned officials has fail to provide any “evidences” procured through tortures from the prisoner to convict him which, in any unambiguous term justifies the innocence of Tulku Tenzin Delek.
The grim truth of the past conducts of China would easily undo the little ecstasy and solace thus acquired from the latest information. Given the past experiences, life imprisonment mostly mean a slow death of sorts for the inmate, as they have to undergo severe mental and physical sufferings resulting in the eventual untimely death. The deaths of late Panchen Lama, Sonam Wangdu, Lobsang Tsondrue, Nyima Tsering and Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok are few cases in the point.
