The last day of the year 2004 saw the end of the All India Bike Rally at Jantar Mantar, Delhi after covering a distance of 8878 kms. The aforesaid youth belonging to Tibetan Student’s Alliance (TSA), a temporary group formed by Tibetan students from various Delhi institutes who took to their bikes to make tour of 28 major cities of India. There were expected to arrive at the appointed place by 1:00pm but were detained due to unfavorable climate.
Mr. Vijay Kranti, a journalist & a long time supporter of Tibet was also present to welcome the small group. In his short speech he congratulated the youngsters of their peaceful and unique method of demonstration. In his words “Having worked for the cause of Tibet for 32 yrs., I feel encouraged to see that the Tibetan youth of the present generation have not lost hopes to see a free Tibet.”
On asking the leader of this group of bikers Mr. Tashi Gyatso about his experience, he said “It was a very special experience, although there were times when we were too tired to go any further and when we had minor accidents on our way. The people of Tibet and India alike encouraged us all our way and I feel that India is my second home.”
