December 9, 2004 at around 7.30 am (CST), 40 people from all walks of life left Minneapolis for New York via Bus. Upon arrival in New York tomorrow, Dec 10, the group will head straight to United Nation Compound to stage a massive demonstration along with the New York Tibetan communities and supporters of Tibet to call upon the immediate release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and all other political prisoners. This ride was jointly organized by Regional Tibetan Youth Congrees, Tibetan American Foundation and Tibet Women Association of Minnesota.
Two-day signature campaign will also begin tomorrow here in Minnesota that will be sent immediately to various top dignitaries around the world urging them to help release Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and all other political prisoners. We are also visiting State capitol tomorrow to personally express and deliver our petition to Governor, Attorney General’s office etc. We will also handout petition to all the members of Senate and House of Representative before their session urging them to do the needful and discuss the issue of Tibet and Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.
We recently sent a signed petition to UN Sec. General Kofi Annan and his assistant Caroly Mcaskie requesting them to fulfill the assurances given to the three hunger strikers in New York as soon as possible.
On Dec 1, urgent petitions were faxed to President George Bush, Collin Powell, Senator John Kerry, Senator Edward kennedy,Senator Mark Dayton, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, US permanent Rep. to UN, John D negroponte, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan etc. for their kind consideration and immediate action.
