New Delhi, December 4 – Wheels have been an important mode of transport for human beings from time immemorial to move from one place to another in search of food. But wheels playing a role in the Tibetan freedom struggle would be a distant guess. Cycle rallies for Tibet in the past have helped bring the plight of Tibetans to the remotest of villages in India. The pedal has now been replaced by motor. A bunch of enthusiastic Tibetan boys, studying in various institutions in Delhi took off on an all India motor bike rally thisWednesday, the 1st of December. These young men have formed a group called the Tibetan Student’s Alliance. Their rally will pass through more then 28 major cities of India, covering a distance of about 8,878 km in almost a month.
The purpose of this rally is to highlight the Tibet issue and seek support to the cause and by doing so, warn India of its unsafe border with China. It also throws light on the
present situation of Tibet. The motive of this rally is also to thank India for providing a second home to the Tibetan refugees for the last 45 years.
Along with these purposes, this rally has also made some demands like the release of Tulku Tenzin Delek and Gendun Choekyi Nyima, the youngest political prisoner of the world. They demand the Chinese to stop dumping nuclear waste in Tibet that would have bad effects in the Indian sub-continent and to stop marginalization of the Tibetan population through various policies. Violation of human rights of the Tibetans living in Tibet is also an important issue that the group seeks to highlight.
The Tibetan Student’s Alliance makes an appeal to the people of India and the world to support the Tibetan people in their non-violent struggle for truth and justice and urges every individual to protest against the death sentence of Tulku Tenzin Delek and seek his immediate release.
