On December 2, 2002, two years back, the Chinese Government committed the systematic state sponsored crime of implicating an innocent human being to death. The time has now arrived for the evil seed to ripen into a full-fledged crime against humanity if proper and timely actions are not taken.
For almost three years now, the world has been a witness to the case and conspiracy regarding Tulku Tenzin Delek. The unfair trial and ‘secret evidences’ implicating Tulku Tenzin Delek, which China refuses to disclose to this day, have in clear words spoken for themselves; China’s disrespect to fundamental human rights and disregard to international norms and legal standards.
Parliaments the world over, including the European Union, the US State Department and Human Rights Agencies have unequivocally condemned the death sentence passed on Tulku Tenzin Delek and the summary execution of Lobsang Dhondup. Earlier this year, following the TYC led indefinite Hunger Strike in front of the UN Headquarters in New York, TYC received personal assurances from the official representative of UN General Secretary and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the safety of Tulku Tenzin Delek. The ongoing ‘All India Relay Hunger Strike’ has been successful in reminding the UN through signatures and post cards campaigns about their assurances and their responsibilities.
Years of experience tell us that China is a power that cannot be relied upon. The summary execution of Lobsang Dhondup despite the assurances given by China to the international community serves as one of the numerous examples of the conceited and capricious minds of the Chinese. This comes as a warning to the international community, not to be complacent regarding the issue of Tulku Tenzin Delek and not to hope for much leniency on the part of China. We urge the international community to prepare themselves for any eventualities.
The case of Tulku Tenzin Delek, which shall unfold shortly, has once again, offered the international community with an opportunity to monitor the integrity and conscience of China as well to measure their respective bilateral ties and diplomatic credence.
TYC questions the rationale behind allowing China to host the 2008 Olympics, while she vehemently indulges in the persecution of internationally recognised prisoner of conscience, Tulku Tenzin Delek.
We can never remain mute spectators to the political irony enacted by China.
