PARIS, November 16 – For the release of a high Tibetan Lama condemned to death, the associations France-Tibet, Students for a Free Tibet-France, the Tibetan Community in France, Together Against the Death Penalty, Movement Against Racism and for Friendship Between Peoples, Christians for the Abolition of Torture-France, Human Rights League, International Federation for Human Rights, and Amnesty international-France are organising a demonstration in Paris, Sunday November 21st at 2 p.m. Avenue Gustave Eiffel (below the Eiffel Tower), Metro station Bir-Hakeim or RER Champ de Mars.

They will walk toward the Ministry of foreign affairs, to request freedom for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. Innocent, he is accused of separatism and terrorism. He is therefore at risk of being executed after the 2 December 2004.

Leaflets are distributed to urge people to write letters to politicians, saying:

Mr, Mrs Mayor, Deputy, Senator, Minister, Director of Political Party, etc I am writing to express my deep concern over the fate of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, one of the highly respected Buddhist leaders in Tibet, who was sentenced to death by the Chinese authorities on charges of terrorism.

Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is a social activist engaged in philanthropic activities. He advocates compassion, non-violence and brotherhood and worked tirelessly for the welfare of the local Tibetans building schools, monasteries, orphanage, old people’s homes, roads and bridges, faithfully to the Dalai Lama teachings. He also contributed immensely in the preservation of Tibet’s unique culture, religion, language, tradition and environment.

This is why Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and his relative Lobsang Dhondup were arrested on false allegations of involvement in a series of bomb blasts and inciting ‘separatism’. On 2 December 2002, Kardze Intermediate People’s Court sentenced Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and Lobsang Dhondup, to death. Tenzin Delek Rinpoche was sentenced to death with two years’ suspension and deprivation of political rights for life while Lobsang Dhondup was given immediate death penalty and life long deprivation of political rights.

On January 26, 2003, in a second trial, their sentences were confirmed. Lobsang Dhondup was executed immediately after the trial. Being accused of terrorism in People’s Republic of China, Tenzin Delek Rinpoche might be executed any time after the 3 December 2004. Therefore, we urge you to request President Hu Jintao (address below) clemency and revision of his trial for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.
