Saentis, Switzerland November 7 – This is certainly a world-novelty. 200 Swiss and few Tibetans were cycling yesterday during eight long hours on an altitude of 2500 metres. Known also as “in-door spinning”, the event on the Saenits summit was a fund raising for the Olympic campaign. Among the participants were Mrs Pia Holenstein and Mrs. Hildegard Faessler, both members of the Swiss parliament. Alex Zuelle, the 1996 cycle world champion and second of the 1998 Tour de France also took to the bike in support for Tibet. This event was organised by Swiss Tibetan Friendship Society and Tibetan Youth Association Europe in collaboration with the aerial line of Saentis. Mr. Chimme Choekyapa, Representative of H.H. the Dalai Lama in Switzerland, expressed his gratitude to the organizers, the participants and the sponsors. Roger Maeder and Namdu Balok (Mrs.) chairs of the organising committee were very satisfied with the success. Today’s papers carried the news.
