Actor Richard Gere is due to arrive in Moscow Tuesday, where he will present 60 photographs of his trips to India, Nepal and Tibet as part of his Pilgrim exhibit featured at the city’s first Tibetan arts festival.

The festival, “Tibet: Traditions, Art, Philosophy” opened at Moscow’s Zurab Tsereteli Gallery on Oct. 14, the Russian Information Agency Novosti reported.

The 60 black and white photographs are what Gere called a reflection of his feelings for Tibet, Novosti quoted Gere as saying. In his introduction to the photo album, Gere adds that he could never give back to the Tibetans as much as he received from them.

After the opening on Tuesday, a charity auction of the works is planned, with the proceeds intended for Tibetan children in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Richard Gere is a committed Buddhist and an outspoken voice on behalf of Tibet.
