Leader of Bristol City Council shows her support for the respect of human rights in Tibet

Bristol, October 10 – Students from University of Bristol, UK, stood up for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, a Buddhist leader in Tibet who is facing execution this December for a crime he did not commit.

Members of Coalition for Tibet society at University of Bristol, dressed in colourful Tibetan dresses, Chinese army officers and Tibetan monks, collected petitions and took a photos of almost 200 participators with a face of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. The photos will be used, together with thousands more from across the country, in a massive montage to be displayed outside the Chinese Embassy in London by Free Tibet Campaign.

Barbara Janke, the Leader of Bristol City Council, made an appearance to sign the petition. Barbara Janke had shown strong support for the cause previously, when she had a meeting with two Tibetan ex-political prisoners from Gu Chu Sum Movement in India during their tour of the UK, organised by Students for a Free Tibet UK.
