New Delhi, 26 August – Core Group for Tibetan Cause and India Tibet Coordination office (ITCO) organized an Indian Lawyer’s Meeting on Tibet at Patiala Court conference hall, New Delhi. The meeting was attended by more than eighty lawyers. Other prominent participants of the meeting were Dr. K.C Agnihotri ( National Co-Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause) Prof. Anand Kumar (National Co-convener, Core Group for Tibetan Cause), Acharya Yeshi Puntsok (TPPRC) and Mr Choekyong Wangchuk (Coordinator, ITCO)
In his welcome speech Dr Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri expressed his deep concern over the lack of Political support towards the Tibetan Cause.
This was followed by a speech by Prof. Anand Kumar who spoke on how India had remained silent during the brutal occupation of Tibet by China in 1959. He also spoke on length about the recent Indian Media visit to Tibet and looming Pareechu peril. He said, “The Pareechu problem is a direct result of deforestation in Tibet”. The media visit according to him was a well-planned strategy of Chinese whereby the Indian media persons were shown just the contrived picture of Tibet. He also urged all the lawyers to sent letters to the President and Prime Minister for the just cause of Tibet.
Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok in his valedictory speech expressed his deep appreciation and thanks all the participants for their support.
