Grand Rapids, July 14 – A group that sponsored a Tibetan monks concert in February in Grand Rapids says it has won a default judgment against a church in Allendale.
The monks were scheduled to perform at the Basilica of St. Adalbert when members of the St. Margaret Mary Church in Allendale interrupted the event.
The group, Tibet Michigan, wanted money from the church to make up for lost advertising costs.
Tibet Michigan says after the church requested a civil trial, it didn’t reply to the court about the case. So a judge ordered the church by default to pay Tibet Michigan about $316.
