His Holiness’s birthday celebrated in Hungary

Budapest, July 7 – The 69th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama was celebrated by over 250 people, including Tibetans, Tibet Supporters and members of Buddhist Community, who gathered together from various parts of Hungary and Slovakia. The celebration was held on 3rd,4th and 6th July at Tar Buddhist Centre and Sambhala Centre in Budapest.

The programme began with offering long-life prayer of His Holiness the Dalai Lama,which was lead by Lama Ngawang, head of the Karma Kagyu Buddhist Centre of Hungary. Heads of Buddhist Community and guests prostrated before the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and offered scarves, lighted lamps and incense around the chorten.

In his short speech the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai lama informed the gathering that His Holiness and the Tibetan government in-exile is striving to achieve genuine autonomy for the six-million Tibetans. He further said although the PRC government is using different labels to discredit His Holiness, the people of the free world, leaders of governments and UN leaderships are witness to the sincere non-violent struggle of His Holiness consistently maintained for many decades in order to resolve the longstanding issue of Tibet.

While a group of Hungarians played melodious folk songs and music, few members of the Kagyu Buddhist Centre perfomed a short educational play based on Buddhist concept of samsara.
