His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 69th birthday was celebrated at The Office of Tibet, Pretoria on July 6, 2004. Function started at 12 noon by Sangsol and reciting the Words of Truth and other prayers for His Holiness’s long life. Geshe Phende of Lamrim Buddhist Centre, Johannesburg led the prayers.
Buffet Lunch started at 13 hrs, attended by more than 60 invited guests. Among others the function was attended by the officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs of South African Government, Embassies, International and local NGO’s, Tibet Support Group members, Buddhist Centers and friends.
Mr. Jampal Chosang, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Africa, officially announced the visit of His Holiness to Senegal and South Africa in November this year.
