MOSCOW, April 6 – The Russian opinion that Tibet is an inseparable part of China is invariable, sources in the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, referring to an appeal of the Buddhist Union of Kalmykia for a entry visa for the Dalai Lama.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry will thoroughly consider the appeal of the Buddhist Union of Kalmykia,” the sources said. “Both the lawful wishes of Russian Buddhists and the need to abide by Russia’s international commitments will be taken into account. In particular, it is the matter of strategic partnership between Russia and China, for which Tibet is a problem of the territorial integrity.”
“There are no official contacts with the Dalai Lama,” the sources noted.
