Brussels, March 10 – The Tibetan Community in Belgium and the Belgian Tibet Support Group organised a demonstration to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Tibetan National Uprising day on 10th March 04 in Brussels, the Capital City of the European Union. Over two hundred fifty Tibetans and members of Tibet Support Group gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Brussels on the occasion.
Mr. Lhakpa Tsering, President of the Tibetan Community started the day with his introductory speech which was followed by appropriate slogans to mark the day. The peaceful yet powerful demonstration concluded with the Tibetan community singing the Prayers of Truth and Tibetan National anthem.
Later at 7.30 Tibetans and their friends gathered at near by Public Park to hear the 10th March Statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which was read out by Mr. Migyur Dorjee from the Bureau du Tibet, Brussels.
It is reported that about 32 communes in Belgium hoisted the Tibetan National flag to mark their support and solidarity to the Tibetan people’s struggle for their freedom.
