Paris, January 28 – Chinese President Hu Jintao has asserted that Tibet is an inseparable part of China, reports Xinhua.
He said here Tuesday that Beijing would keep its channels for Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama open as long as he does not demand independence for Tibet.
“Tibet is an inseparable part of China,” Hu said after talks with his French counterpart Jacques Chirac.
The Dalai Lama, who fled Tibet in 1959, lives in self-imposed exile in India along with some 100,000 Tibetan exiles.
Hu arrived here Monday on a three-day state visit, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
France is the first leg of Hu’s four-nation tour that will also take him to Egypt, Gabon and Algeria.
