Chennai, January 15 – Tibetan Students’ Association Madras will hold a ‘Tibet Festival” on 18 and 19 of January. According to the members of TSAM, the two-day festival is aimed at informing the residents of Chennai about the rich cultural heritage of the Himalayan kingdom known to the world as ‘forbidden kingdom’.
The highlights of the festival are cultural songs and dances, Tibetan literature Tibetan customs, Thangka paintings, history and environment, Tibetan cuisine, Religious talks and sale of Tibetan carpets and antiques. The Tibetan students during these two days will also showcase the political plight of the Tibetan people to the public.
Tibetan Students’ Association Madras is a non- profit student organization, started in 1993 with 10 founding members. Today it’s a full-fledged students’ association with 108 members studying in various colleges of Chennai.
The festival will take place at AICUF House,(near Loyola College) 125, Sterling Road, Nugambakkam.
