Chandragiri, Orissa, January 7 – Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama today said a meaningful dialogue with the Chinese government was required to solve the Tibet problem.
The Dalai Lama, who is on a three day visit to the Tibetan settlement here, told newspersons that it was a matter of great concern that the Tibetans were gradually becoming a minority in Tibet.
The Nobel laureate remarked that Chinese immigrants are gradually increasing in many areas of Tibet, including Harsha.
Replying to a question whether he favoured a third party mediation to solve the Tibet problem, the spiritual head of the Tibetan people said a meaningful dialogue with the Chinese Government was needed at this hour.
He said ”many governments are helping us to have a meaningful dialogue with the Chinese Government to solve the Tibet crisis.” On the present Chinese policy, the Dalai Lama said ”the repressive actions of the Chinese government in Tibet were causing great resentment.” When asked whom he would declare a successor, he quipped ” I am in a semi-retirement statement. Dalai Lama is the head post since the last 360 years.” However, the question of spiritual leader, he said would be decided by the people of Tibet.
