Berhampur – Thousands of refugees residing in Chandragiri and Mahendragada areas in the district gave rousing welcome to the visiting Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama Monday. The whole area wore a festive look on the occasion of the visit of the religious teacher to the area. Strong security measures were undertaken for his security. About eight platoons of police force accompanied by senior police officials were engaged for his security.
Over 20 toranas have been constructed at different places to welcome the religious teacher. The visiting leader is scheduled to address a religious meeting organized by the Tibetan refugees Tuesday. Many senior members of his shadow Cabinet are accompanying Dalai Lama during this tour. Prior to his visit to Chandragiri, he arrived at Berhampur at around 9.30 Monday and halted at the Revenue Dept guesthouse for about 15 minutes. Hundreds of Tibetan refuges who are trading winter garments in Berhampur town have visited to Chandragiri to hear the religious sermon by the religious teacher.
