Greens lower house MP Michael Organ would wear a Tibetan flag on his lapel when visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao addresses federal parliament, Senator Bob Brown said.
Senator Brown and his Greens colleague Kerry Nettle are expected to be barred from entering the chamber for the joint sitting to hear Mr Hu.
They were both ejected from the chamber on Thursday and barred from it for 24 hours following efforts to disrupt US President George W Bush’s address.
“Kerry and I will go to the chamber and I’m told we’re going to be denied access. So be it,” Senator Brown told Channel Nine.
“Michael Organ will be there. He’s going to be wearing (a) flag of the Tibetan people on his lapel to symbolise to Hu Jintao our disgust with the way several million Tibetans have been denied their freedom.
“He’ll have a black armband on to symbolise the thousands of people who have been locked up in China just because they have a different political belief or a different religious belief to the communists.”
Tasmanian Independent Senator Brian Harradine has decided to boycott the meeting in protest against the abuse of human rights in China.
