Dharamsala, August 30 – Plans are afoot to host a Kalachakra initiation ceremony here in 2005. This was disclosed by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Maj. Vijay Singh Mankotia, after meeting the Dalai Lama at his residence in Mcleodganj yesterday.
The Tourism Minister said the Kalachakra ceremony could not held earlier as two such ceremonies were already planned for the current and next year. He was confident that the ceremony would help in boosting the tourism industry of Kangra in a big way.
He said Dharamsala had made its mark on the international tourist map but lacked basic facilities such as good roads, parking and other facilities.
The minister said winter water sports competitions would be organised at Maharana Partap Sagar this year and the annual festival to celebrate the conferring of Noble Prize for Peace to the Dalai Lama would be held from December 10 to 12.
