LHASA, July 28 – China Southern Airlines (HKSE: 1055) has launched a SARS-delayed service from Guangzhou to Lhasa, Tibet.
The new Monday, Wednesday and Saturday service originates from Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou in Southern China to Shangri-La (formerly known as Zhongdian within the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Area/Region) in Yunnan Province, with a continuing service to Gonga Airport, Lhasa.
China Southern Airlines will use a Boeing 757 on the new Tibetan route, a company statement said.
Currently China Southern operates nearly 100 weekly flights – from more than 10 cities including Mainland China and Hong Kong – to the main cities in Yunnan Province in China’s southwest.
