Reopening of Ladakh-Tibet road to be taken up with Centre

Jammu and Kashmir government would take up with the Centre the issue of reopening the border route between Ladakh and Tibet to promote tourism, trade and pilgrimage to Kailash Mansorovar, official sources said.

The Ladakh affairs department had taken up the issue to open the border route at Demchok, Leh to promote trade and tourism with the Home Ministry and Department of Kashmir affairs in July last, they said. The issue would be again taken up with the Centre so that it could be discussed with the Chinese authorities, the sources said adding people in Ladakh also want to open the Kargil-Askardu and Ladakh-Tibet roads at the earliest.
