Tibet Foundation Press Release
15 April 2005
London Marathon – Sunday, 17 April 2005
We are delighted that two of our supporters, Richard Tippett and Lisa Weekes are running the London Marathon on Sunday, 17 April 2005 for the Tibet Foundation. This is the 25th London Marathon and it is the 20th Anniversary of Tibet Foundation.
Richard Tippett is a keen runner and has already completed two half marathons. He has been training hard for this, his first full marathon.
He believes that this is a practical way in which he can help Tibetan people living in Tibet and in other countries such as India and Nepal.
Richard sponsors Tseto Lhamo, an orphan in Kham through Aid to Tibet. Tibet Foundation’s commitment is to see the children to the end of Middle School, when they will be around 16 years of age.
This is the second time that Lisa Weekes has run a marathon for us. She ran with Marie Rabouhans in 2003. Last year she had a baby and now she is back for what will be her fifth marathon! Last year Kelsang Dolma Dodin ran both the London Marathon and the New York Marathon to raise funds and create awareness of the Foundation.
Please help our runners if you can – ask family, friends, colleagues and neighbours to contribute. If you would like Sponsorship Forms, please contact us.
In order to reclaim income tax under the Gift Aid scheme, it would be helpful if sponsors ticked and dated the Gift Aid column and provided their full name, address and signature. Please make cheques payable to Tibet Foundation.
If you would like to join us to raise funds through running and fancy a go at the Marathon in 2006, please contact us 020 7930 6001 or events@tibet-foundation.org
