More than 70 Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) activists stormed the Chinese Embassy at Delhi today to condemn the Chinese Premiere Wen Jiabao’s four day official tour of India beginning from the 9th of April 2005.
At around 12 noon a bus load of TYC members barged on the premises of the Chinese Embassy, shouting anti-China slogans and demanding the complete independence of Tibet. The group of demonstrators in true sense represented the ultimate aspiration of Tibetans of ‘Rangzen’ as it contained in spirit and being, the experience of old age – the eldest being 74 years of age, the vigour of youth and the legendary nationalism of nuns.
The periphery of the Chinese Embassy echoed with shouts of “Free Tibet” and “China Get out of Tibet”, as Tibetan National Flags emblazoned the green lawns and streets leading to the Embassy.
The demonstrators verging in from all corners continued to raise slogans and distribute pamphlets while a hoard of media personnel from the leading press agencies and media channels such as NDTV, Sahara News, Aaj Tak, Times of India, Hindustan Times, Reuters etc. widely covered the TYC demonstrations. Many of the members overcame with emotion as they realized that virtually only an iron gate separated them from China – the China that made us homeless, the China that killed and tortured millions of our countrymen, the China that obliterated our religion and culture, the China that is our enemy. Tears flowed as mouths ran dry.
A gentle wind jostled the Chinese flag on the embassy roof while the same wind fueled the fire that burned China’s flags into ashes right in front of the embassy gates.
After almost half an hour of powerful slogan raising, red flag burning and extensive pamphleteering, the police came into action and started lathi-charge to control the demonstrators, capturing and throwing them into police trucks. The captured members have been taken into custody at the Chanakya Puri Police Stations.
Although the slogans have now quelled at the Chinese embassy but the scenes of angry Tibetans demanding China to get out of Tibet will flash as nightmares in the eyes of those Chinese who sheepishly peeped out from their windows and the echoes of “FREE TIBET” will ring in the ears of Wen Jiaboa.
Through this demonstration TYC sends a clear message to China that although our oppressed brethrens back in Tibet don’t have the opportunity to vent their demands for a Free Tibet but we Tibetans in exile will let China know of the true aspirations of the six million Tibetans of Rangzen – Complete Independence.
‘Wen’ever or ‘Hu’ever it maybe China will face the brunt of Tibetans.
