46 years ago on March 10, 1959, Tibetans assembled in Capitol, Lhasa to shield the young Dalai Lama from the brutual communist Chinese army and to resist their invasion that resulted in the execution of thousands of unarmed Tibetans men, women, and children. That day is considered to be the darkest and saddest period in our history. Since then Tibetans all over the world commemorate this day to pay tribute to those who died on that day, and to strongly condemn the communist Chinese rule with rallies and vigils.
Tibetan community and friends of Tibet in Minnesota will commemorate the 46th Tibetan Uprising Day on March 10 at the state capitol in St. Paul. This is a joint endeavors of Tibetan American Foundation, Tibetan Women Association, Regional Tibetan Youth congress and Student for Free Tibet to honor our martyrs and to educate the world about the deplorable situation of Tibet under communist China’s oppression.
Senator Mark Dayton’s representative will be the chief guest. There will be slogans and rally from the state capitol to downtown St. Paul after the function. Flyers and memo will be handdelivered to the Governor, Attorney General’s offices, requesting members of Senate and House of Representative to demand and urge communist China to release Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and all other political prisoners unconditionally as soon as possible.
China have insitigated lots of abuses inside Tibet; state sponsor population transfer, forced abortion and sterlization, dumping of nuclear wastage, human rights violation, genocide, tortures, labor camps etc are few worth mentioning. The recent sentencing of life term to the innocent Tulku Tenzin Delek is one of many examples of the absence of freedom to defend. The issue of whereabout of His Holiness the Panchen Lama is still unknown. He is the world youngest political prisoner. This in our sincere request to all the freedom respecting people to communicate in any capacity with the world leaders, your representatives in local, state, federal governments for their immediate intervention to undo the injustices being done in Tibet for last few decades.
