In order to reach out to Indian students and youth for the cause of Tibet, three day intensive educational programme for around 40 students consisting of 21 girls and 19 boys of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi has begin today Jan 21, 2005 in Dharamsala, Himachal Pardesh.
On the day first: Jan 21, 2005 students had an audience with 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Orgen Thinley Dorje in the morning, later proceeded towards various Tibetan institutions like Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, (LTWA) Tibetan Medical & Astro Institute, (TMAI) etc. in Gangchen Kyishong. They also had an interaction with the members of ATPD, Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies.
On Jan 22, they will be having a workshop on the issue of Tibet. Mr. Thupten Samphel, Secretary of DIIR will brief them on the “Geographical, Historical, Political, Cultural and Tradition of Tibet”. After the lunch students will be given a talk by Tenzin Tsundu, “China’s recent policy on Tibet and implication to India and why India should help Tibet? “ Later in the evening Mr. Lobsang Shastri, Librarian Tibetan Manuscript section of LTWA will introduce and give insight on the “Institution of Dalai Lama of Tibet.”
On the final day there will be brief write-up session on their trip to Dharamsala followed by a session of working group’s presentation on the way to disseminate the issue of Tibet in the Indian media.
