UNA, January 12 – Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche today said India’s rich ideological and spiritual heritage was its inherent power which could help lead and guide the entire world.
Speaking at the Town Hall here at the state-level function organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to commemorate the 142nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, he said the growing competition towards consumerism and growing global population had ushered in diseases, bloodshed, poverty, ecological imbalance and religious intolerance, for which science had no solution.
He said the youth need to rise to the occasion and take a lead in the direction of jnan (Knowledge), sahitya (literature), shastra, dharma (religion) and anubhav (experience).
The Tibetan Prime Minister opined that consumerism, growing competitiveness and playing with the nature under the garb of development was the reason behind the recent Tsunami disaster.
He cautioned that playing with nature must end to avoid such calamities.
Rinpoche said Swami Vivekananda was one of the five persons who had influenced him. “Swami’s preaching of Sarva Dharma Satya meant respect of all religions,” he said.
